Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Money Tools UK collects when you use our calculators, why we collect it, how it is stored, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.
Last updated: 13 May 2026
Money Tools UK ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy applies to moneytoolsuk.co.uk and is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Data we collect
Money Tools UK is built around calculators that run entirely in your browser. We are deliberately privacy-light and do not ask you to register an account.
Information you enter into calculators
Salary, day rate, expenses, property prices and other figures you type into our calculators are processed locally in your device. We do not transmit, log or store the values you enter on our servers.
Information collected automatically
- Device type, browser, operating system and screen size
- Approximate location derived from IP address (country/region)
- Pages visited, referring URL and time spent on each page
- Anonymous interaction events (e.g. which calculator was opened) — never the values you enter
We use this information solely to understand which calculators are useful, to fix bugs and to improve the site.
3. Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics providers such as Google Analytics 4 or Plausible to understand aggregate site usage. IP addresses are anonymised and we do not build advertising profiles of individual visitors.
Crucially, the figures you enter into our calculators are never sent to analytics providers. Only metadata about which page you visited and which controls you interacted with is collected.
4. Advertising
Money Tools UK is free to use. To support running costs we may display advertising from third-party ad networks. Where we do, those partners may use cookies and similar technologies to measure ad performance and, with your consent, show relevant adverts.
We do not sell your personal data. Where personalised advertising is offered, you will be asked to consent before any advertising cookies are set, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.
5. Affiliate links
Some links on Money Tools UK — for example to umbrella companies, accountants, mortgage brokers or property platforms — may be affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and subsequently use the partner's service, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate relationships never influence the calculations our tools produce, the figures we show, or the editorial guidance in our tools and guides. You can read more about our editorial principles on the About page.
6. Your rights under UK GDPR
Money Tools UK is the data controller for personal data processed through this website. Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to or restrict processing
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)
To exercise any of these rights, email us using the contact details below.
7. Security & data retention
We use HTTPS across the entire site, modern hosting infrastructure and reputable third-party providers. Because we do not store the values entered into our calculators, there is no personal financial data on our servers to retain.
Aggregate analytics data is retained for no longer than 26 months. Cookie consent preferences are stored on your own device until you clear them.
