About this calculator

Salary to Hourly Calculator — convert UK pay rates instantly

Our Salary to Hourly Calculator converts a UK annual, monthly or weekly salary into an equivalent hourly rate — and works the other way too, turning an hourly rate into a full-time salary. It is a fast way to compare permanent roles against contract day rates, freelance gigs or part-time hours.

Designed for employees, contractors, freelancers, recruiters and small business owners, it helps you benchmark a job offer, price a project, plan a flexible-working request or work out the true cost of an hourly role. Adjust the hours per week and weeks worked per year to reflect holiday, bank holidays and any unpaid breaks.

The calculation is straightforward and transparent: hourly rate equals annual salary divided by (hours per week × weeks worked per year). For salary, it multiplies the same components in reverse. By default the tool assumes a 37.5-hour week and 52 paid weeks, mirroring a typical UK full-time contract, but you can change either input. Results are gross, before Income Tax and National Insurance — pair this with our take-home pay calculator to see your actual net pay.
