How umbrella take-home pay works

When you contract through an umbrella company, your assignment rate is reduced by employer National Insurance, the apprenticeship levy and a small weekly margin before PAYE tax is applied. The result is your gross taxable pay — and your take-home is what remains after income tax, employee NI and pension contributions.
